Hi hi Reader! A toolbox is something you go to when you need something for a certain type of task or adventure! So what are somatic self regulation practices? If you take each of these definitions and put them together… Somatic: of the body Self-regulation = a way you balance your body / mind / spirit Practice = something you do often A somatic self-regulation practice would be something you do with your physical body in order to balance your body, mind, heart, soul. These practices are important because its easy to get off center during the day with all the goings ons or just if you’re like me and love to move. BUT you are sitting more to watch the World Cup…⚽️ Shake and dance if you’re holding tension or other feelings you want to move up and outta you… Your body holds all your tensions, your stress, and memories. Take a moment to reflect on a life event and feel where you feel it. These events - and they could be positive or NOT - you may have already moved on with your mind but your body still remembers. So here’s my quick and simple way to integrate somatic self regulation into your day… (And its not always easy - buy hey you knew that!)
ORRRR 🪇Put on your favorite tunes and SHAKE your BODY or DANCE! (other idea... spend time with your furry creatures in your life!) Today’s adventure - should you choose to accept - is to find what works for you and choose an ALIGNED somatic self regulation practice…and use it when you need to get back to YOU. Listening to yourself and offering the GIFT of regulation honors what you need and supports you being the best! ☀️for yourself, your family, and how you give your gifts to the world. Hit reply and let me know your plan! Hiya Reader! Take a moment and relax your belly. Yes, your belly…that beautiful space from your ribs to your pubic bone. I know I just said some anatomy words but just go with me for a moment. My teacher is taking me on our “Sacred Belly Sadhana” this month. (*Sadhana = practice in Sanskrit /yoga language) It gives me pause to think about my core. Often when you think of core, you think of strength+stability more so than flexiblity+mobility and just plain relaxing your belly. Now take an...
Hi hi Reader - As some of you know, Heroic and the community there has been a part of my life for awhile now. I have been through their mastery, coaching, and workshop instructor trainings and really am grateful how all the wisdom has helped me change my life. Michael, the head coach of Heroic, recently hosted a beautiful (and thankfully short ~35 min!) webinar. Topic: Stop Starting, Start Finishing. It’s on taking ONE idea / project / task / whatever and designing a way to finish it… The...
It’s the breath! Hi hi Reader! Throughout some of my day I am doing and being on autopilot - the “needs doing” parts of life. When I can stop and attend to my breath - even just for 1-2 cycles…it grounds me back into my physical body and also gives me clarity, calm, and focus. I would say most transitions with my boys are a bit hectic (with still the question of if Gordie has any shoes on when we leave the house😆). I have made a new practice of getting into my car and setting my hand on my...
