what's better than "the waiting place?"


I know you probably have a story like this one, Reader.

For mine, let's time travel back to September 2017.

I have just returned back to work after an amazingingly juicy 6 month maternity leave.

All the feelings of the return to work phase are live and in full effect (and also the ones where as a working mom

of two children you have a difficult time making all the human beans happy!)

I was still excited and prepared to return to the stability of the work in a job that I loved.

I enjoyed the IDENTITY of myself when I was working.

But I had a whisper of my inner journey and it was whispering about how though the job was the same...

I was different.

Then our family has some news that my father in law was diagnosed with lung cancer.

That whisper became stronger - You are different - this whisper said.

And, this job is not your way forward.

My in laws were taking care of my boys for me...and then they couldn't (with all the dr appmts etc.)

What came next was me leaving this stable career job - that I had been in for 12 years - to stay home with my boys, who were 4 y.o and 6 mo. old.

Raising human beans is challenging and wonderful BUT what was even more WHOA was

the IDENTITY SHIFT that happened in that one decision.

At the time, this ROCKED my world and it took a lot of my inner and outer resources to "get right" with it.

AND I knew I must "press on from here..."

Getting stuck in the gratitude and WTF feelings is real.

You get safe. You freeze.

You get lost in what Dr. Seuss call "the waiting place."

The comfort in this known waiting place makes it cozy.

But it's in the being uncomfortable that you grow.

It's from the challenges and fears that you overcome, that you grow and evolve..

👉🏼So where are you safe and comfortable?

How are your inner obstacles / mindsets / self talk creating fear doors?

How can you take a step towards and through that door...

-engaging in solitude to get specific on what you want

-having that conversation or making that phone call or sending that email

-honoring your movement or rest

-radically accepting and loving what is

-choosing what's hard today, so life seems easier tomorrow?

Consider how your life journey could be different when you grow and evolve-->

You can either Step forward into growth or back into safety...
